Selective Admission Point Categories
Students will be accepted into the Nursing Program by Selective Admission. Applicants will be assigned points based on the following criteria:
- GPA Grade Point Average of pre-requisite courses (minimum of 2.7 required to apply)
- HESI Nurse Admission Test Score. Students must score a minimum of 80% in Math, Reading, Vocabulary and Grammar. Students are allowed two attempts to achieve required scores on an exam. Students unsuccessful on their first test may choose in their second testing attempt to only take those subject areas where a score of 80 was not achieved in their first attempt. If unsuccessful on the second attempt, they must wait 2 years from the first exam date to test again.
Additional points can be earned based on the following categories:
- ACT or SAT Scores
- Previously Earned Degree
- Credits taken at HFC
- Health Related Licensure/Certification (certified Nursing Assistant; certified Medical Assistant; licensed EMT; licensed Respiratory Therapist; certified Occupational Therapy Assistant; licensed Physical Therapy Assistant) *Military Service
Students electing to supplement their points from the above categories must submit supporting documentation with their application.
